Rhythm & Dance by ANGO
Description
What is it about rhythm that makes us want to move?
Join the Australian New Goldberg Orchestra for Rhythm & Dance, an afternoon of music inspired by movement, tradition and celebration. The program travels across cultures and musical styles, beginning with the slow and irresistible build of Ravel’s Boléro and concluding with the thrilling energy of Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance.
The journey continues through Koželuch’s Concerto for Piano Four Hands and Orchestra, Julian Yu’s colourful Six Chinese Folk Songs, the joyful Dance of the Yao People, and the warmth and wit of Shostakovich’s Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra.
Each piece has its own character, brought together by a shared sense of pulse and movement. Some rhythms unfold gradually, while others burst forward with colour, excitement and a little surprise.
We look forward to sharing this afternoon of music with you!
