Event description

Rhythm Music Therapy is excited to invite you to our community choir, run by a team of qualified Music Therapists every Tuesday evening starting in 2023 from the 21st of February.

The choir is led by Vlada Edirippulige (M.Mus.Thy., B.Mus.) and accompanied by Kassie Sofia (Director of Rhythm, M.Mus.Thy., B.Mus., Dip. Ed.), with each therapist registered through the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Both Vlada and Kassie have expertise across various demographics with a disability and mental health focus, and have a passion for inclusivity and bringing the people of the community together ~ regardless of whether you think you can sing or not, everyone is welcome at choir! The aim of the project is to bring people together and advocate for inclusion. This choir is for ALL ABILITIES!!!

So whether you're a shower singer, someone who blasts Mariah Carey in the car and sings full pelt, or someone who enjoys listening, humming along and simply appreciating music ~ this choir is for you!

Here are the fine details:

Day and Time: Tuesdays, meet at 5:30 pm for a 5:45 pm start (choir runs for 1.5 hours, so wraps up around 7:15 pm)

Location: Our Space, Wilston, 156 Newmarket Road (Across from Officeworks)

Each week one song will be chosen by the group to focus on, with this song posted via social media (Instagram) the week leading up to the choir. Suggestion boxes will be accessible each week to ensure that everyone's preferences are taken into consideration. Some songs that might be sung include hits like:

  • Ain't No Sunshine
  • Shotgun
  • Riptide
  • Lean on Me
  • A Thousand Miles

The choir is open to anyone over 18, and all abilities are welcome!

Our Space is also a dog-friendly location, so pups are always welcome provided they are leashed!
