Join us for an unforgettable night of world music at "Rhythms Down Under"!

Experience the vibrant energy of Naarm's own samba legends, WOMBATUQUE, as they bring the pulsating beats of Afro-Brazilian samba to Wolfhound on Brunswick (Fitzroy).

For the first time in Australia, we're thrilled to welcome Enrique Amigó from Madrid, Spain. Enrique will perform his original compositions, accompanied by Damiano Spina on percussion (who completed his PhD under Enrique's supervision), and Huich Goh on violin (who trains Capoeira with Damiano). This unique collaboration highlights a wonderful chain of mentorship and shared passion for music, promising a fusion of sounds and rhythms you won't want to miss.

Don't miss this extraordinary musical journey that celebrates the rich tapestry of global sounds right here in Melbourne!

Enrique has combined his research career with musical projects. He began with the wave of singer-songwriters in Madrid in the 90s, playing in venues such as Libertad 8 or Galileo. Since then, he has shaped his songs with multiple projects. In the late 90s, he was part of "La Casa del Conde," a Spanish/Brazilian fusion band with Ronny Vasques and Claudio H. In the 2000s, he led Esfumato, a musical-performance project accompanied by toys and shadow montages with Carlos Manzanares and Julio Gonzalo, among others. In the last decade, he has launched other projects such as Rap-Madera (an organic rap trio using exclusively wooden instruments), with Dani Aguilera (Murcia) and Jorgito Kamankola (Cuba), or the violin and guitar duo with Violeta Veinte. In 2018, he founded the project TREVITHICK, with Viti Fresno on bass, Julio Gonzalo on sax, and Gabriel Vidanauta on drums. It features an organic band sound with Spanish guitar, leaving space for jazz, progressive elements, and the lyrics themselves.

Come have a drink - it's set to be a memorable night!
