Your Instructor Christopher Hersey, CFE, is a Senior Special Agent with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Inspector General, where he investigates fraud, waste, and abuse of Treasury systems and programs, including pandemic relief fraud cases coordinated across the country. Chris has spent 25 years in law enforcement, beginning his career in 1997 as a Patrol Officer and Detective with the Huntersville, North Carolina Police Department. In 2003, he joined the United States Secret Service as a Special Agent in the Miami Field Office, where he investigated a range of financial crimes as part of the South Florida Organized Fraud Task Force before transferring to the Vice Presidential Protection Division in Washington, DC. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and teaches financial crimes investigation at Palm Beach State College, bringing both frontline federal casework and academic instruction to this course.
