Family constellation (FCT) is an approach to healing that confronts intergenerational trauma both mystically and empirically. Bert Hellinger devised FCT as a way of connecting ancestral pain and traumatic events to someone's current difficulties, then restoring peace to the system.

Family Constellations is a modality that looks beyond the known story we all have of our lifetime experiences, toward the ancestral inheritance of trauma.

 We are impacted by the family system we are born into, adopting those cultural norms, idiosyncrasies as well as some dysfunctions…as we try to find our place in the family and the world.

Family Constellations holds that we are also strongly impacted by the inherited culture and dysfunctions of our distant relatives even if we have no knowledge of who these ancestors were or where they lived, how they lived their lives; they are in us, we inherit these feelings and perspectives on the world from our extended ancestry. 

By working in this way, outside the stories held by the mind as to why we are like we are, we open the possibility of another version of ourselves to emerge. Hopefully moving beyond a stuck idea of ourselves, towards a fuller and more fluid and free self, unencumbered by our ancestral pasts.
