For the very first time, 5Rhythms Adelaide is delighted to produce International Teacher & Artistic Director of the 5Rhythms Ritual Theatre Wing - Lorca Simons and her body of work known as Live Wire. Supported by DJ Muse Rivka Honeybee Worth

This weekend workshop, ROOTS, offers a very special part of Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms known as Ritual Theatre.

Live Wire contains the maps of our practice that Lorca has deepened and developed the last three decades of her career with Gabrielle’s blessing

No Theatre, performance or 5Rhythms experience required to join this workshop.

Ritual Theatre happens in the moment - it is not about performance but rather presence.

As artists we manifest change offering ourselves and our stories from that Live Wire place inside our creative centre.

REAL:

Evoking a creative way of seeing and experiencing life from the artistic nature of the body.

The electric landscape of unpredictable possibility that lives and breathes inside our bones.

Application and vision are one and the same from an artistic perspective, both evoking creative expansion which is at the root of our practice.

A poetic landscape of offering. A free fall, a footfall, a live response to what is happening in us, around us and universally.

We as artists manifest change, offering ourselves and our stories from that deep live wire place inside each of us. A vulnerable electric landscape of unpredictable possibility that lives and breathes inside our bones helping others feel deeply, truthfully, with faith, humor, love and trust.

Lorca is dedicated to the creation of physical theatre that is both interactive and transformative, creating revolutionary theatre that dissolves the fourth wall.......and all the walls that separate us.

Born and raised in Texas, she grew up in her father’s experimental theatre company Hip Pocket Theatre. She is now co- artistic director of this extraordinary 50 year old company.

A graduate of The University of North Carolina School of the Arts theatre conservatory. Educated in both experimental and traditional theatre. In New York City she blazed through productions from Off Broadway to fringe, television and film. 

Lorca followed her instincts to the unique directing vibration known as Gabrielle Roth and a 19 year creative collaboration bloomed. Lorca studied and trained with Gabrielle from the mid-90’s and became co-founder and co-director of 5RT, the experimental theatre wing of the 5Rhythms world collaborating on numerous original productions, workshops, and ritual theatre explorations. She is now the Artistic Director of the LIVE WIRE 5Rhythms Ritual Theatre Wing.

Live Wire is an embodied ritual theatre investigation, grounded in the movement maps of 5Rhythms®, devoted to the shapeshifting nature of physical art, and guided by the vision of Lorca Simons, Gabrielle Roth and artist Martha Peabody. Designed to inspire, refresh, re-set and connect. Our time will include movement, creative excavations, collective truth-telling and beauty-making.

Lorca is an internationally certified 5Rhythms facilitator dedicated to exploring both the performing and visual arts, awakening each individual’s unique creative potential through the vast landscape of the heart. She actively creates theatre globally through a series of LIVE WIRE Ritual Theatre Labs: Soul Revival, Breath in Motion, Gather, Roots, On The Verge, Electric Landscapes, Wing Span, Soul Notes, Silhouette and Soul Threading. 

In the Live Wire 5RT Zoom Wing Lorca offers intimate 1:1 online sessions; soulfully stripped down poetic investigations threading story, shape & breath. She has also created a series of Online Live Wire Lab investigations: Listening Faces: Cradling Light, Resilience, Hot Box, Gather, Whispers of Silver, Goodwill, Blossom and Love Balm.
