Event description

Join Tarntanya Adelaide based visual artist Laura Wills to create an artwork for Rivers Meeting, an exciting community art and environment project that will culminate in two public events along Kadlitparri Gawler River for Nature Festival 2025 in Sept/Oct.

All are welcome and no experience is necessary to attend this workshop. We will be using painting, drawing and reused materials to explore local flora, fauna and river stories. Come along to add to a collaborative artwork and share your stories and favourite places along our precious local waterways.

Your artwork will be displayed with others as part of the Rivers Meeting: Kadlitparri Gawler River Immersive Walk on Sun 28 September. Walkers will be guided through an interactive experience along a stretch of the river where they will view art made at workshops and Artist in Schools programs and hear the story of the river from artists, scientists, educators, writers and musicians. As a workshop attendee you are of course most welcome to attend this free walk!

Your artwork will also be displayed at a second Rivers Meeting event at The Food Forest permaculture farm on Oct 12th. This will be a guided interactive tour, hosted by Laura Wills and Graham and Annemarie Brookman of The Food Forest, with a focus on flora and fauna, water, food, and peri-urban land-use.

*If you would like to attend the Rivers Meeting Community Art Workshop but cost is a barrier for you, please contact us for assistance.

Rivers Meeting is presented by Laura Wills, Gawler Environment Centre, and the Food Forest.

Funding for the project is provided by Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, Nature Festival and Carclew.
