    Event description

    Join John Crook and other River Conservation Society members on a walk along the banks of the Avon River to discover the river as a living being, the fauna who call the river home, the native flora that remains and the pressures facing this delicate ecosystem. Look for and discover what lives in the hidden hollows, burrows, and nests along the riverbank. Discover what lives in the river’s pools. What is our relationship with the river? Discover what is being done to restore the health of the river in York. How can we foster a sense of stewardship over the river?  Walk ends at the Environmental Discovery Centre to view and discuss with RCS members the river displays and enjoy some light refreshments. 

    Walks will start and end at the Environmental Discovery Centre, 7 Glebe Street, enter from Clifford Street York.  Walks are suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Approximately 1km loop walk on riverbank tracks, suitable for most abilities, not suitable for wheelchairs.
