River Rangers: Water Explorers - Parramatta Park - Summer 2026
Event description
All living things need water to survive but how do animals, plants and people find it and use it in the heat of summer? Join us for our full day holiday adventure along the Parramatta River to uncover the secrets of water in the wild.
Children become 'River Rangers' in this hands-on school holiday program:
Head out on a water detective walk along the Parramatta River to explore who depends on water in the park – from bats, birds, fish and the tiny water critters below the surface of the water.
Use cordage and nature’s gifts to create a natural fishing rod!
Cool off with a fun team water game that combine science and play.
Led by experienced nature educators, this program blends outdoor adventure, creativity and learning, inspiring kids to see water as the lifeblood of our environment.
This program is suitable for children aged 5 – 12 years.
Please note: At Greater Sydney Parklands, our child-led nature play programs adapt to the needs of participants and weather conditions. This may result in variations from the described activities. Our priority is to ensure children have a meaningful connection to nature. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in supporting our approach.
