River Restoration Walking Tour @ Dead Mans Pass
Event description
Interested in river restoration?
Join us for a one-hour walking tour in Dead Mans Pass Reserve, to see how revegetation, weed management and embankment stabilisation projects have helped to protect and restore the South Para River.
Dead Mans Pass is one of our most concentrated biodiverse areas in the Town of Gawler. It is also teeming with rich history! The name might sound a bit grim, but don’t worry – it’s simply named after a mishap in 1839 when one of the early settlers sadly passed away whilst crossing the river. It gives a fascinating insight into South Australia’s past, making it a great learning journey for the whole family.
In collaboration with the Town of Gawler and Gawler Environment & Heritage Association, the walking tour will begin and end at the Dead Mans Pass Reserve car park. It will follow an accessible asphalt pathway and include approximately three resting stops, to pause and discuss certain areas within the river corridor.
Everyone is welcome!
