Riverdale Farm Planting Day
Event description
Riverdale Farm planting festival takes place on Sunday 6 July, where youâll be joined by many other like-minded individuals and together plant hundreds of native seedlings the Bremer River and share a delicious lunch.Â
We kick off the day by providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the event's purpose, how and what weâll be planting, and why itâs important to plant by rivers. This approach offers you valuable insight into the impact of your contribution.Â
Weâll be serving (post planting) a pasta and salad lunch with a yummy dessert to follow.
The Bremer River is an 88km river and is home to an abundance of wildlife including threatened species such as Diamond Firetails, an exquisite small bird that is classified vulnerable.Â
Greening the BremerÂ
This planting festival is part of a unique habitat restoration project called 'Greening the Bremer'. Kanmantoo Callington Landcare, a group of dedicated volunteers, together in late 2021, created a campaign called âGreening the Bremerâ, a project working with local landholders to restore life back to the River and its tributaries.
