Kate Longworth Choreography:

"My dance journey began in my teen years, after being accepted into the specialist dance program at my new high school. Starting with very little experience, my passion drove me to leave year 12 being awarded top of my year in the dance program and voted cheer captain for the open cheerleading team at my school. After graduating high school, I decided to audition for a position at a full time dance course in Perth, where I was accepted and began training.

I graduated from APAN (Australia’s Performing Arts Network) full time certificate 4 course, at the end of 2014. My studies at APAN provided me with the opportunity to work with many well known choreographers in the industry. I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience training all genres, as well as performing on stage in a number of performances around Perth. After leaving APAN, I began my dance teaching career.

As well as teaching, I performed in a hip hop crew between the years of 2013 - 2021. My crew travelled to numerous competitions around Perth and interstate, to compete against teams all around Australia. Over the years, we were successful at winning numerous grand champion awards and bids to overseas competitions. My crew went to compete at the Dance World Championships in Florida (USA) in 2015 and 2018. We went on to place top 10 (7th) representing Australia, against many talented dance teams from all around the world. I also had the opportunity to choreograph a hip hop duo that went to compete at the ICU Championships in Florida, who were awarded top 5 representing Australia. My crew had won another bid to compete again in 2020, unfortunately it was cancelled due to a fun pandemic we call covid.

I am 29 years old and I am entering my 10th year teaching, from running hip hop programs to choreographing/teaching all ages from 4 through to adult. I moved from Perth to Margaret River in 2022 to build my business and have loved being introduced to the other incredibly welcoming and supportive creative businesses in the region, who I now collaborate with for an annual showcase. I have a major passion for hip hop, choreographing and building confidence in my students through classes, workshops and performance. Getting to know all the incredible individuals and watching their growth, inside and out, has been a major highlight of my teaching career and I look forward to continuing my hip hop journey! 😍"
