Event description
Learn how to troubleshoot and fix common mechanical issues in a demo & hands-on workshop!
We'll cover general bike safety checks, tyre punctures (focusing on tubed tyres, but can touch on tubeless), gear tuning, and fixing chains so you can keep your rides smooth-sailing. There will be a Q&A at the end of the session to cover other topics you may have.
For each topic, we'll provide the information you need before letting you get your hands dirty and apply what you've learned.
You're highly encouraged to bring your bike to the session, so you can see how the topics can be applied to your own set-up.
All other tools will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them. We'll be using tyre levers, multitools and/or allen keys, puncture repair kits, and hand pumps.
Snacks will be provided too, because it wouldn't be a Bite-Sized Ride event without them.
Instructor: Tom Li
Tom brings over a decade of bike mechanic experience. He is currently working at Abbotsford Cycles and Off Course while finishing a Master of Environment, focusing on culturally-appropriate food. When he's not busy with that, he's rock climbing, bikepacking, gardening, or cooking.
Tom will be supported by Simon Lim and Yana Lim of Bite Sized Rides.
Venue: WXSHOP
A not-for-profit by Wondercross Cycling, WXSHOP is a vibrant community hub where individuals come together to ride and work collaboratively. It serves as a friendly clubhouse for group rides, as well as a multipurpose workshop space for cycling adjacent-topics ranging from bike maintenance to musette and cap making, and even bike painting. During the week, WXSHOP is a co-working space with both permanent and hot desk spaces available. Learn more about them at https://wxshop.org/
