Robbie Averill Trio

Born and bred in Ōtautahi, guitarist and composer Robbie Averill is a graduate of the ARA Jazz School. He spent his formative musical years performing around New Zealand (and a little wider) with gypsy jazz group La Petite Manouche, performing a blend of gypsy jazz with modern jazz and trying to sneak McDonalds jingle references into his solos as much as possible.

Having lived in Wellington and Canada since 2016, Robbie returns to the 03 Sessions with a stellar line up consisting of Tim Driver on keys and Luke Smillie on percussion, a bit more of a beard, and a fresh take on his music: chill jazzy guitar with some gypsy influence, more delay and reverb than necessary, and some laughs.
