Event description

Event Description.

The time has come again! ProxiTech, led by RoboRAVE Australia Competition Lead Oscar Lloyd, is hosting an extensive RoboRAVE Competition Workshop these winter holidays! In teams of 2-5, students will brainstorm, design, build, and program a robot and compete at the largest single robotics competition in Australia, RoboRAVE Australia, hosted on July 13/14th at the UniSC Stadium! This year we expect upwards of 2,500 competitors from Australia and globally, it's a true celebration of robotics!

Due to popular demand, ProxiTech will offer two concurrent courses these winter holidays, covering both the Sumo and Non-sumo challenges! We welcome students of any age or experience level to come and try one of these unique opportunities and explore the boundaries of robotics with Lego SPIKE, Micromelon, or Microcontroller robotics! Tickets are limited for both courses, so order now!

      RoboRAVE Information.

The RoboRAVE competition is a unique robotics opportunity where students get the chance to compete against hundreds of other students! There are plenty of opportunities to interact with cool robots, try out new technology, and eat some great food! This is an all-weekend event located at the UniSC Stadium in Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast, however, students will only need to attend for the day their challenge is running (Saturday 13th for Non-Sumo, Sunday 14th for Sumo).

        Information

        • The competition runs from 8:30 am-5:00 pm on both days (13/14th July) at UniSC Stadium
        • Students should arrive at 8:00 am for Team registration at 8:30 am. Parking information will be provided on the day.
        • The awards ceremony starts at 4:15 pm. Students can be picked up from then onwards. The coach will remain around until students have been collected.
        • Parents are permitted to stay for the duration of the event, however, you will require a spectator ticket ($10) or to be a volunteer to enter the stadium.

        Requirements

          • Signed media consent form - The event is live-streamed and students will be unable to enter without a separate signed RoboRAVE form. This is a policy directly from RoboRAVE Australia and is independent of our media consent form.
          • Students must be responsible and mature enough to remain semi-independent. Coaches and spectators are allowed on the stands but cannot enter the pits where the students will be for the majority of the day. If you wish to get up closer to you're child, we recommend volunteering for the event, you get a free shirt and lunch!
          • Students need transport to and from the venue. We also require a parent/guardian to sign the student in and out when they arrive/leave.

Volenteer Sign-up - FREE SHIRT AND LUNCH

Spectator Tickets - $10 all weekend (made available closer to the event)

          Pre-Knowledge and Age Requirements.

Both courses are open to students from Years 3-12 (Ages 8-18). The competition is based on age divisions so students will compete against others of similar age.

Non-Sumo Course: Students will not require any prior experience, however, we do recommend your child has some level of experience using a keyboard and mouse/trackpad on a laptop, as it's an important skill to have for programming.

Sumo Course: Students attending the Sumo course should only be attended by students who have had experience with robotics before (such as one of our prior courses) or have competed at RoboRAVE before.
