A documentary film by award-winning producer/director, Shannon Swan and made possible through funding from Frasers Property Australia.
In a world more designed to pull us apart than unite us, what can we do to reconnect to our innate human need to live life together?
At age 23, Joey felt so alone he attempted to take his own life. He awoke in the ICU 6 days later to find his right leg had been amputated. This same feeling of isolation and loneliness now effects 1 in 4 Australians. Now fully recovered from the experience, Joey searches for answers as to why it happened to him and how he can stop it happening again. Can we find a way to live together, as united communities, to fight loneliness and reconnect in a world that is designed to pull us apart?
JOIN US for this inspiring story that explores the impact of isolation and the power of human connection. This film takes a look at the challenges many face and the ways we can come together as communities to support one another. Be part of the conversation and the movement to build a more united and compassionate world, where no one has to feel alone.
Afterwards, join us for a casual gathering in the Gold Lounge Function Room. Capacity for the Gold Lounge is 80 people only. First-in-basis. Drinks and bites can be ordered from the Gold Lounge bar. (Not a catered event.)
Please notify us if you do not wish for yourself or your child to be featured in photographs or recordings.

Final Screenings and Awards Ceremony
Due to the licensed area, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Some films contain coarse language and thematic content and viewer discretion is advised.
For our third year in a row, Rock The Boat Film Festival will conclude with a black-tie red-carpet ceremony where finalists are screened and winners are awarded.
This special evening brings together filmmakers, finalists, friends and family from across all regions of the festival.
If there’s just one event this year to dress up for, this is it! Our Event Photographer will begin capturing photos on the red carpet at 7:00 pm sharp, ensuring you get your red-carpet moment.
Inside the cinema, you will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or juice. It’s a great opportunity to network with new connections or catch up with familiar faces. Nibbles will be available, and our media wall will be ready to capture those memorable moments before the ceremony begins.
At 7:30 pm, guests will be seated for the awards ceremony, where finalists in the main categories will be presented as well as further Awards of Recognition announced on the night, including Best Cinematography, Best Sound and the RHB Films Rising Star Award. Following a brief closing ceremony, the evening will conclude by 10:00 pm.
Professional photographs from the night will be made available for download, free to keep or share as you wish.
Please note: the light refreshments will consist of nibbles, not a full dinner, but there will be Gluten Free (GF) and Vegan (VG) options available. Catering staff will be on hand to advise guests about suitable food for any special dietary needs.
There will be a 20 minute comfort break during the ceremony, whereby any confectionary or water can be purchased from ACE Cinemas candy bar.
