Course Outline:
This workshop addresses key issues regarding the management of ill and injured employees.
Working through a complex case study you will develop the skills, knowledge and strategies required to enable you to support workers with non work related injuries, including
- what are the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees in relation to non-work related injuries / illness
- privacy and what questions you can ask of ill and injured workers and when;
- practical tips on managing staff who present as unfit for work and
- supporting leaders.
Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this course you will be able to:
- Recognise the differences between managing work-related and non-work-related injury/illness
- Understand the parameters of working with ill or injured employees – what questions can be asked of who and when
- Understand employer and employee obligations

This course is applicable for a national audience, and is recommended for Return to Work Coordinators, HR an WHS professionals.
About the Trainer: Meg Hansson - Learning and Development Specialist, EML
Meg has worked in workers’ compensation, return to work and occupational health and safety for over 20 years at an Agent, as a Consultant and as a Return to Work Coordinator for Employers. During this time Meg has applied his skills, knowledge and experience in a range of roles including as a trainer and facilitator, learning designer, advisor and auditor. Meg has extensive experience interpreting legislation and is passionate about helping learners achieve their career and study goals.
Meg holds a Diploma of Workplace Health and Safety, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Fitness and a Diploma of Human Resources.
