Course Outline:

This workshop addresses key issues regarding the management of ill and injured employees.

Working through a complex case study you will develop the skills, knowledge and strategies required to enable you to support workers with non work related injuries, including

what are the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees in relation to non-work related injuries / illness
privacy and what questions you can ask of ill and injured workers and when;
practical tips on managing staff who present as unfit for work and
supporting leaders.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course you will be able to:

Recognise the differences between managing work-related and non-work-related injury/illness
Understand the parameters of working with ill or injured employees – what questions can be asked of who and when
Understand employer and employee obligations

About the Trainer: Meg Hansson - Learning and Development Specialist, EML

Meg has worked in workers’ compensation, return to work and occupational health and safety for over 20 years at an Agent, as a Consultant and as a Return to Work Coordinator for Employers. During this time Meg has applied his skills, knowledge and experience in a range of roles including as a trainer and facilitator, learning designer, advisor and auditor. Meg has extensive experience interpreting legislation and is passionate about helping learners achieve their career and study goals.

Meg holds a Diploma of Workplace Health and Safety, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Fitness and a Diploma of Human Resources.
