Rolling the Wheel – Leadership Development as Momentum for Civic Engagement
Event description
“Rolling the Wheel – Leadership Development as Momentum for Civic Engagement”
Explore what’s possible when a critical mass of people in one state speak the same language about leadership on adaptive challenges. Since 2007, Kansas Leadership Center has equipped more than 20,000 people (in a population of less than 3 million) with leadership skills grounded in the Adaptive Leadership framework. Now, Kansans with a range of political beliefs and backgrounds stand ready to work across factions to improve quality of life for themselves and others. Hear about KLC’s training process, how we built the wheel and are attempting to roll it with civic engagement and experimentation around issues including:
- Slowing the flow of children into foster care.
- Building an entrepreneurial eco-system in rural communities.
- Supporting communities through the Covid 19 pandemic.
- Moving forward when a community discovers its school district was named for a high-level member of the Ku Klux Klan.
- A city council vote on a nondiscrimination ordinance.
