Romantic Rhapsody: Liszt, Schumann & Dvořák

This colorful program celebrates the intersection of folk influence and Romantic expression, with music full of dance, dialogue, and heartfelt lyricism.

Franz Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No. 9 “Carnival in Pest” (arr. for piano trio)
Opening with flair, Liszt’s “Carnival in Pest” bursts with festive spirit and Gypsy fire. In Liszt's arrangement of his own work, piano, violin, and cello trade dazzling lines in a virtuosic celebration of Hungarian dance rhythms and melodic flair.

Robert Schumann – 6 Studies in Canon Form, Op. 56 (Duos)
Originally for pedal piano, these pieces are intimate conversations between two voices—refined, tender, and full of contrapuntal charm. In piano trio form, they become elegant, poetic interludes—short studies that speak volumes.

Antonín Dvořák – Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65
Dvořák’s third trio is the emotional heart of the evening—bold, lyrical, and sweeping. A dramatic and deeply expressive work, it blends Czech folk roots with rich Romantic textures in a gripping four-movement journey.

Together, these pieces form a vibrant arc: from Liszt’s spirited celebration, through Schumann’s introspective duets, to Dvořák’s passionate masterpiece.
