International Steinway Artist Ronan Magill - Solo Recital, Sydney

Concert Pianist Ronan Magill visits Australia for the first time!

We’re proud to announce that the concert pianist and composer Ronan Magill will visit Australia in November to give solo recitals. He will be performing at the beautiful Hunter Baillie Church in Annandale, Sydney, on Sunday 22nd of November at 3.00 pm.

Ronan, born in the UK of Irish parents in 1954, was a founder pupil of the now world famous Yehudi Menuhin School, and later worked with Benjamin Britten while at the Royal College of Music where he won the top prizes for piano and composition. He then moved to Paris where he lived and performed for many years and then more recently in Japan where he now lives.

For this concert, he will be playing great piano masterpieces as well as works by Miriam Hyde, the esteemed Australian composer and his own deeply affecting composition commemorating the Titanic disaster of 1912.

A lifetime’s experience, come and listen!

We were all enchanted by him and I was amazed at his general musicality and intelligence and his is a remarkable gift” (Benjamin Britten, September 1969)

There is great vitality and real delicacy in these performances and Magill shows himself to be a true master of rubato...these are indeed distinguished performances” (Robert Matthew-Walker in “Musical Opinion”, reviewing Ronan’s recording of the Complete Mazurkas of Chopin, part one, in 2023)

..complete artistry and an instinctive understanding of the music’s character….Words are simply inadequate – Wagner, Liszt and especially Ronan Magill simply took the breath away” (Gareth Jones concert review East Anglian Times, 2019)

Mature mastery….the enigmatic maestro astonishes” (Christopher Axworthy – Music Commentary online, 2024)
