The 2026 Roncalli Lecture on Human Dignity

The Roncalli Lecture returns after a decade-long hiatus. Hosted by the ANU Catholic Society, this event seeks to revive a distinguished ANU tradition established by John XXIII College in 1991. Over the years, the lecture series has welcomed prominent Australian public figures including Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, the Hon. Gareth Evans AC KC, Senator Patrick Dodson, and Helen Watchirs OAM.

This year's lecture will be delivered by David Smith MP, Member for Bean and ANU alumnus, who will reflect on contemporary questions of human dignity and their significance for public life in Australia.

Tickets are strictly limited and registration is essential. Please arrive by 5:45 pm for a 6:00 pm commencement. We look forward to welcoming you to the next chapter of the Roncalli Lecture.
