Event description

Gain insight about the kaupapa and tikanga surrounding rongoā Māori in this special, free, adults (ideally 14+) event with skilled kaiako, Emma Haslam. Arataki Visitor Centre and Glen Eden Library have partnered to bring together this event, following on from the earlier Matariki celebrations through the West Auckland local boards, and as an extension of the growing kaupapa across our hapori.

The event will include:

  • Karakia and mihimihi to open.

  • Kōrero around the mātauranga and tikanga surrounding rongoā.

  • Hīkoi around Arataki to view native plants.

Our kaiako has an alternative, indoor approach to the hīkoi if the weather is poor on the day, so regardless of weather this event will persist!
