Celebrating Indigenous Stories: A Family Day

Add to calendar

Sat, Nov 7, 1:30pm - 4:30pm CST

Description

Celebrate the launch of seven new Room to Read books written and illustrated by Indigenous creators at a fun-filled Family Day for all ages. Enjoy a day of storytelling, hands-on activities, and creative fun as we bring these new stories to life!

Room to Read’s Indigenous Book Collection centers Indigenous identities, cultures,
languages, and traditions. This collection helps address a critical gap in representation within children’s literature and is designed to serve as both a mirror for Indigenous children and their families and a window for non-Native children, creating meaningful opportunities to learn from Indigenous stories, perspectives, and ways of life

Meet the authors and illustrators behind the stories, enjoy storytelling sessions, participate in hands-on activities, and discover the joy of reading through creative family experiences. This free community event invites children, families, educators, and book lovers to come together and celebrate Indigenous storytelling, creativity, and culture.

Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Guests will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a maximum capacity of 500 attendees.
