Roots Rhythm: Ceremonial Frame Drumming Workshop

This event opens a space to tune the body and spirit to the heartbeat that unites us all. Together we will drop into acknowledgement of both the ancestors of place and of our individual lineages, reflecting on rhythmic archetypes that have lived within the undercurrent of world languages through the ages. We will activate the space and our intentions by playing fundamental and ancient rhythms on frame drums that have since primordial times encouraged a meditative mood conducive to healing and insight. You will receive guidance in using the drum towards these ends stemming from my almost twenty years of practice and dedication to the study of world percussion and ritual. 

Attending this event will require some prior contemplation as to the lineage you are receiving the strongest calling towards at present. It also requires that you bring your own frame drum and beater. Auxiliary shakers are also welcome. If you require further stipulation on the drum to bring or wish for further guidance in acquiring one, please contact me. I look forward to meeting you in the space. 

About your Facilitator

My name is Djulz Chambers. Back in 2006, I was received by communities of the Sahel in Burkina Faso for several years; immersed in a life of community, ritual and music. Since then I have been devoted primarily to the practice and study of the Art of the Djembe from my base in the Dandenong Ranges with the continuing support and guidance of traditional custodians living here in Australia, throughout Mali and Burkina Faso. It is my intention to share my understanding of rhythmical concepts and keys with you as applied to the frame drum in the hope that this knowledge and experience will empower your personal practice and strengthen your connection with the heartbeat that unites us all.
