Event description
ROOTS TO WINGS - A MOVEMENT AND CONSCIOUS DANCE JOURNEY
You are warmly invited to move, play, unwind, renew and release in a heartful, fun and safe space that encourages the full expression of self to support awakening, transformation and healing.
Beginning from our roots, we will awaken our feet, spine and fluid body, discovering how this corresponds with the arms and the opening of our "wings". We connect into the earth with our lower body to liberate the upper body and move through gravity with lightness, presence and awareness of our true essence within.
"Moving fluidly increases our vitality, just as water in the natural world is vitalized by flowing freely." - Bonnie Gintis
DATE
Friday 7th July (numerologically a 7-7-7 portal!)
TIME
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Doors open at 5:50pm for a 6:00pm start
We will warm up with a gentle mixed movement practice guided by Dee (drawing from principles of fascia yoga and natural movement). We begin by waking up our connections to the fascial and nervous systems with an invitation to embrace the internal experience of making space behind the skin and filling it with awareness. With full permission to enjoy the relaxation and the subtle energetic emanations that dance within. Priming us for a dance exploration where movement unfolds organically and effortlessly - with fluidity and lightness.
We then move into a free flowing conscious dance journey where Christine will be providing gentle yet powerful guidance along the way. An opportunity to dive further into your inner world, connecting with your deepest wisdom and whispers of the soul. There is no right or wrong way to move, allowing you to express your authentic, creative self. We will begin from the ground, inviting a sense of melting into the earth. Tuning into the spherical nature of our bodies in motion as we reach, soften, fold, expand... listening for that impulse to find our upright shape again in an effortless flow... embracing the spaciousness and physical freedom within.
Suitable for all levels of physical ability. No dance or yoga experience necessary, just an openness to go on the journey and a desire to experience more of what it means to be in wholeness with self. Whether you are familiar with this form of movement or completely new, you will be guided and encouraged to be in the freedom of moving from how and who you are.

FACILITATORS - Christine Jaroszewski and Dee Verran
Christine and Dee share a deep passion for dance and conscious movement practices and how they become a direct doorway to our inner wisdom. Over the last year they have been exchanging creative ways of exploring dance and awareness through movement. This has sparked the threading into motion of their first offering together.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Christine has had an international career as a classical ballerina and contemporary dance performer. Her passion for dance and expressive movement led her on a journey of diving into several modalities of somatic movement practices, including yoga, Gyrokinesis® (completed her teaching certification in this method), Feldenkrais, Continuum Movement and various approaches to dance improvisation, in particular contact improvisation and Soul Motion with Vincent Martinez-Grieco. She spent 5 years living and teaching in India, where somatic movement and dance became the core of her practice and participated in several multi-disciplinary events with Indian artists.
Christine has been teaching for the last 5 years in Fremantle. She has developed her own personal approach to conscious movement and dance with her classes “In-Spiral Flow” and also co-facilitates workshops with Julian Silburn “Embodying your Essence“. Christine's approach encourages a "listening and following" to awaken the inner wisdom of the body through movement and dance. "Developing our felt sense and presence allows us to discover our own unique movement language in the dance, to experience more connection with ourselves and with life around us."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dee is a body work practitioner (massage, vibroacoustic therapy), natural movement practitioner (MovNat level 1 qualified teacher, MovNat Mobility, Ido Portal Method) and a recently qualified fascia yoga teacher (taught in the lineage of Vanda Scaravelli). She studied fascia yoga teacher training with Joanne Avison (international educator of applied structural anatomy for movement and manual practitioners) and applies this knowledge into her self-inquiring, enviro-somatic expression of yoga.
With 15 years of practice in the movement arts, 5+ years in the body work field (cert 4 massage therapy, anatomy trains, myofascial release technique) and 3 years of guidance in Indigenous ancient wisdoms / sound & vibration therapy with mentor Dorothy Coe (Soke Gong Master, founder of former training school - Echoes), Dee recognises and appreciates the intricate connections each of these modalities share... how we relate to the space within us, how we relate to the space around us and how resonance shapes us, supports us and moves us. Dee has also completed a dual diploma in community services (mental health and AOD) and fosters a trauma sensitive approach to embodiment and mindfulness practices.
