Rope Bondage 101 Workshop

Have you been wanting to learn rope bondage but your hands were tied on where to learn? We’ve got you, friend! This practical rope skills for beginners workshop is centered on learning one knot and applying it to single cuffs, double cuffs, harnesses and more. This can be a foundational course where you can explore a whole world of rope or just be tied to this one awesome skill. In addition to knots, you will get pleasure and safety tips to maximize your experience, as well as a one-of-a-kind experience complete with bad jokes. Knot so bad, is it?!

What to expect from this workshop:
 While many of our classes at Lotus Blooms are lecture focused, the rope workshops are some of our more hands-on experiences.  You'll be tying (and if you come with a partner, being tied- if you choose to switch). Everyone remains clothed- save the sexy outfits (or lack of outfits) for bedroom and playspaces please!

Who is this workshop for:
This class is taught in a pair format so while you can come solo, we strongly recommend bringing a partner or friend. Each person attending needs a ticket.

The instructor will direct you every step of the way on this one, so you are free to come with little to no rope experience. This is perfect for partners where one person has more experience than the other so we can even the playing field, but it's also great for dynamics where neither person has any experience in bondage or kink.

What to bring:
Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothes that you can move in-not too tight or too loose. While it’s a great date night activity, we don’t recommend your best dress and heels for this one. Think yoga pants and t-shirts.

There is some class rope available, but it is limited so we recommend people bringing their own length of 30-40 ft rope (two lengths is helpful but not required) or purchase some at Lotus Blooms before the class starts (with your 15% discount, of course)

Meet your Educator!
Ren Moore, MA, MEd (they/them) is a former Lotus Blooms employee that keeps coming back like gum on our shoe. Ren’s background is in relationship and sexuality therapy as well as kink research and education but is currently making high-falutin construction doodles. Ren also has interests in cars, flags, horror movies, and knitting – expect obscure references to any of these + a whole lot of self deprecating humor and a few dad jokes.

The Fine Print: Lotus Blooms’ workshops are open to people of all genders and sexual orientations, individuals, couples, or groups. Due to state law, attendees must be over 18 to come to the workshops or shop in the store. Workshops are currently held at  Ms. Moxie's Moon Shop, 102 N Fayette St, Alexandria, VA 22314, one block from Lotus Blooms. Workshops generally run about 60 minutes plus time for Q&A. Afterwards, attendees will be walked over to shop Lotus Blooms with a 15% discount. 

If you are running late:
Because the topics of sex, sexuality, intimacy, etc are so personal and often taboo in our society, our staff and educators work very hard to create events that make people feel comfortable learning and sharing. Much of the working agreements and standards of behavior tend to take place at the beginning of our short workshops. As such, if you arrive more than 15 minutes after the workshop is scheduled to begin, we will not be able to allow you to join this time around and your tickets will be forfeited. We hope that this helps to encourage people to come on time and enjoy the entirety of the event, and create a comfortable space for everyone attending!
