Ropetimes at Hope St Radio
Event description
ROPETIMES at Hope St Radio with artist and ropeworker, Luke George.
Winter blues? Global tensions getting too much? Want to try something different? This might be a way to find some connection and release…
ROPETIMES is an introductory workshop open to anyone who wants to connect and play, and learn the sensuous practice of rope bondage (Shibari しばり) in a welcoming and supportive workshop environment - an intimate and playful journey into the art of rope, trust, and touch.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In the practice of shibari/bondage, rope acts as a conduit for energy and emotion, transforming into dynamic expressions of trust and mutual care.
ROPETIMES workshops are a chance to slow down, listen closely, and explore intimacy in a fun, safe and supportive environment. These workshops focus on respectful interaction and understanding between partners. Luke, a Collingwood yards studio artist, will guide participants through foundational knots and tying techniques, emphasising the principals of ethical kink practice, communication and consent.
Whether you’re a beginner or wanting to explore rope bondage further, everyone is welcome. Bring friends, a partner, or come solo and meet someone at the workshop. No previous experience required. All rope is provided.

FACILITATOR
Luke George is a multidisciplinary artist and sex-positive educator. Luke’s work examines the dynamics of intimacy and collectivity to create ‘safe spaces’ that allow for care as well as risk. Performing his work locally and internationally, best known for his work STILL LIVES for NGV/RISING 2022, which involved the tying and suspending of 5 Aussie rules footballers in rope bondage to recreate the 2011 AFL Mark of the Year. Luke travels globally to perform and teach and we are very lucky he calls Naarm and Collingwood yards, home.
