RoseyRavelston Art Prize 2025
Event description
Artists and creatives, young and old, are invited to be a part of the RoseyRavelston Art Prize, where art and literature meet!
Entrants will be given a book, selected at random, to read and to respond to creatively through a 2 dimensional artwork. These will be exhibited at RoseyRavelston Books throughout April 2025.
Artworks will be judged by a panel with prize money for the winner in each category:
Primary school $50
Highschool $75
Adult $150
With 10% of entry fees donated to Rural Australians for Refugees.

Entries
The entry fee is $10 for primary and high school-aged artists and $20 for adults. You may enter as many times as you like.
Artists respond creatively to a book, chosen at random by RoseyRavelston Books, and create a 2D artwork to be included in the exhibition.
Artworks must be approximately 30.5 wide x 40.5cm high and not more than 10cm deep.
Artworks should be ready to hang, eg stretched canvas or foamcore, and have D-rings fitted 10cm from the top of the frame. Artworks requiring pins, plinths etc will NOT be accepted.
Artworks may be in ANY medium such as paint, textiles, photography, pencil or collage but must not extend beyond the above dimensions.
All entries MUST have a label attached to the back of the artwork containing:
Artist name
Contact number
Category (Primary School, High School, or Adult)
Book title
Medium
Price (if work is for sale, otherwise state ‘not for sale’)
While every effort will be made to include all entries, space limitations may mean that some works may not be included.
Works that are unfinished, wet, or have unsecured elements will not be accepted.
Eligibility
The prize is open to anyone living or working in the Blue Mountains or Sydney.
Books
The books will be selected at random by RoseyRaveston Books staff. This is included in the entry fee.
Books can be collected in person or posted at the artist’s expense ($9.99 postage).
Sale of works
Artworks may be for sale and will incur a 30% commission fee plus 10% GST.
Exhibition space
The exhibition will be installed in the gallery space at RoseyRavelston Books and will be curated by staff.
Publicity and advertising
We encourage entrants to promote the prize widely through word of mouth, invitations and social media.

Images of entries will be used to publicise the exhibition on social media, newsletters or through other relevant channels. Wherever possible, RoseyRavelston Books will credit the artist. Copyright will at all times remain the property of the artist.
Delivery/collection of artworks
Ideally entries will be delivered in person. If this is not possible, courier or postage costs will be incurred by the artist, including the return of works.
Any works not collected or posted (by arrangement) 2 weeks after the exhibition will be disposed of at the discretion of RoseyRavelston Books.
Exhibition Opening
The exhibition opening is free to attend and friends and family of the artists are warmly welcome to join.
Insurance
Exhibitors are responsible for costs of insurance for work in transit (from studio to RoseyRavelston Books, and return from RoseyRavelston Books to studio).
Static insurance cover is provided for the exhibition while it is at the premises of RoseyRavelston Books.
