Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle
Event description
Easter is a time of year traditionally marked with music, and Opera Scholars Australia will continue that tradition in 2024 with a performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.
This grand masterpiece, (which is neither petite, nor solemn) is a musical testament to his genius and spiritual contemplation. Witness the majesty of Biblical texts set to music as Rossini’s composition captures the essence of Easter’s spiritual significance, inviting listeners to reflect on faith and redemption.
The resounding sound of two pianos (played by Stewart Kelly and Phillipa Safey) and a harmonium (Dean Sky-Lucas) blending superbly with our 25 young singers, will soar within the stunning Main Hall at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to support future opera stars and let their interpretation of Rossini’s final work leave you uplifted, inspired, and spiritually moved as Easter envelops your heart and soul!
