Rotaract Cooking Class: Pakistan
Event description
PAKISTAN
Salam!/سلام!
In collaboration with the MCCSA’s Successful Communities, the Muslim Australian Connections of South Australia, Foodie and Mrs., and supported by the City of Adelaide, we bring you our next Rotaract Cooking Class! We’ll be learning how to make Chana Pulao (Chickpea Pilaf) with Mint Raita & Tomato Chutney!
THE CHEF:
'Foodie and Mrs.' are Adelaide-based food bloggers hailing from Pakistan. Together they formed an online blog when the COVID pandemic arrived in Australia. Foodie and Mrs are all about home-cooked traditional food that helps them revive fond memories of their motherland. The blog was very well received and they did a three week’s producer in Residence Program at the Adelaide Central Market in March 2021 selling authentic Pakistani street food.
THE DISH:
Chana Pulao is simple yet delicious rice dish commonly made in homes in Pakistan. It is hard to trace its origin as it is equally loved across all provinces and regions. It is flavourful, tastes subtle yet earthy and rich. The best thing about it is its simplicity, however, it is elegant enough to make a space at the table of any fancy dinner. Naturally gluten free and vegetarian. The aroma of whole spices gives it a hearty comfort. Coupled with a traditional yoghurt dip and tomato chutney, this is a complete dish that fills the stomach and warms the heart.
