Dennis Shore is a chemical engineer and enjoyed a successful career as a senior executive, leading international business development and management for Australian Paper Manufacturers (now Amcor) across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. After establishing his own consulting firm, he retired in 2021 to focus on his work with Rotary.
Dennis is a Fellow of the Australasian Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Association and has received its Distinguished Service Award. His contributions extend to several Australian industrial advocacy groups, where he has served as a council member for the Australian Standards Association, a past director of the Australian Shareholders' Association, and a member of the Business Council of Australia's Environment Committee.
As an inaugural director and current trustee of a foundation at Monash University, Australia's largest university, he was honoured for his distinguished service to engineering education.
Dennis has an impressive Rotary CV, joining Rotary Hawthorn in 1980, Dennis has held various leadership roles, District 9800 Governor (2012-13), endowment/major gifts adviser and Vice-Chair of Rotary Foundation Australia. He has represented Rotary International (RI) as president's representative three times and served twice as a Council on Legislation representative. Additionally, he was vice chair and promotions director for the Host Organisation Committee for the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne. Â
He is currently a Trustee of the Rotary International Foundation 2023-27.
Dennis’s primary passions within Rotary are supporting education and peace initiatives. Through his club, Dennis has supported a variety of projects, including scholarships, water tank installations in Timor-Leste, a hospital in Cambodia, and mental health initiatives in Australia, along with the club's signature Rotary Safe Families program. He has been instrumental in grassroots efforts to secure Rotary Foundation grants in his region and convened a million-dollar dinner in 2017 that raised over $3.5 million for the Foundation.
Dennis and his wife, Lynda, are Major Donors and members of the Bequest Society and has received The Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award and the Citation for Meritorious Service.
