In celebration of World Hearing Week and their new hearing ambassador, Matilda’s goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold, the Bionics Institute are delighted to present their groundbreaking hearing research to Rotary.

The Bionics Institute has an impressive track record of translating medical device concepts into clinical reality, dating back to 1986 when it was founded by Professor Graeme Clark. Professor Clark led the team that created Australia’s cochlear implant, which has given hearing to more than 750,000 deaf people around the world.

The Bionics Institute have continued to pioneer groundbreaking new tests and treatments to help everyone experience the joy of hearing.
In this exciting session you will hear from:

Bionics Institute CEO, Mr Robert Klupacs: An introduction to the Bionics Institute’s world-leading hearing research

Dr Yingjie Hu, Research and Development Engineer: An overview of how the Bionics Institute is using nanotechnology to develop a world-first treatment for hearing loss, a condition which affects half a billion people worldwide.

A recorded interview with Mackenzie Arnold, the Matilda’s goalkeeper: As a wearer of hearing aids Mackenzie understands how important the joy of sound is. With Mackenzie’s support, we look forward to progressing our pioneering hearing treatments into the clinic to improve the lives of millions of people affected by hearing loss around the world.
