The Rotary Melbourne sixth Annual Environmental Sustainability lunch will feature Professor Graeme Samuel AC.
Professor Graeme Samuel AC, Monash University Business School is a is one of Australia’s most respected figures in public policy, regulation, and governance. Professor Samuel led the independent review of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, providing the blueprint for its long-awaited reform. The EPBC Act, originally enacted in 2000, set the framework for protecting Australia’s biodiversity and culturally significant sites, and Professor Samuel’s work directly informed the new environmental legislation passed in November 2025 under the Albanese government.
Beyond environmental policy, he has provided outstanding community and business leadership as President of Dementia Australia and board positions with Opera Australia, Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust, the Melbourne Cricket Ground Trust, Airlines for Australia and New Zealand, and Quipex Pty Ltd.
He is a Companion of the Order of Australia for his eminent service to public administration and the community.
