Alberto Balbo is an internationally recognised executive and thought leader in energy transition and decarbonisation, bringing extensive global experience across the energy, infrastructure, and sustainability sectors.

Originally from Vicenza, Italy, Frank holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Padua, a Master in Product and Project Management from CUOA Foundation, and an MBA with a concentration in Strategy & Finance from Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne.

He has held senior international executive roles with Fortune 500 organisations including General Electric and Honeywell, leading strategic initiatives within the energy and oil & gas industries.

Alberto is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Callendar (Australia) and Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Maeka Limited (Papua New Guinea), two internationally operating firms specialising in decarbonisation strategy, energy transition advisory services, and project development. Through these roles, he has worked closely with government bodies and multilateral institutions including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the World Bank, as well as corporate clients across the Asia-Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

With expertise spanning power generation, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, digital solutions, software, and services, Alberto is widely regarded for his strategic leadership in sustainability and clean energy transformation.

Alberto also serves as a Board Member of the Australian Microgrid Centre of Excellence (AMCoE), Advisor to Carbonless Asia, and is an active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). He contributed to Decarbonizing Asia – Innovation, Investment and Opportunities, published by World Scientific and launched at COP27.

At this event, Alberto will share insights drawn from his international leadership experience and his work at the forefront of energy transition and sustainable infrastructure development.

Also on this day we will be hearing from a 2021 Young Achiever James Holland, Senior Advisor, National Association of People With HIV Australia (NAPWHA)

James Holland is an Australian community leader and advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights.

James will be speaking on the Award and how it has created job opportunities and encouraged his service to the community.
