    Event description

    Don’t biff it, repair it!

Join us at the Rotorua Repair Café on Saturday 16 December, 10am – 1pm. The Rotorua Repair Café is a free pop-up event for locals to bring in broken or damaged belongings with local volunteer experts doing their best to repair them. Let’s work together to reduce waste to landfill!

What kind of things can I bring to be repaired?
This depends on the volunteer expertise we have on the day (we’re currently recruiting for clever fixer upperers – email recycling@rotorualc.nz to sign up). What you can bring for our upcoming December event will be advised shortly – but for now please save the date and we’ll update the event page as soon as we can!

     Where is it?
Our December Repair Café will be at the Te Rūnanga Tea House located in the Government Gardens. There are a number of free and paid parking areas within proximity and the venue is just a five-minute walk from the Arawa Street bus stop.

     How does it work?

    •  You’ll need to register to attend so we have an idea of what is coming to be fixed.
    •  Following registration, we’ll give you a timeframe on when you can expect to be seen.
    •  Upon arrival, you’ll be paired with one of our volunteer repairers who will work with you to identify the issue and potential solution. We can’t guarantee everything you bring in will be able to be fixed - our volunteers will do their best (you may need to purchase or supply parts).

Remember this is a free service to encourage waste reduction and our fix-it experts are volunteering their time and skills to help where they can.

     What else will be there?
There will be some light refreshments while you wait, a kid’s tinker table to keep little ones busy and a repair demonstration by the Rotorua DIY Shed!

     Is there a cost?
The Rotorua Repair Café is free to attend. There’s an opportunity to koha Repair Café Aotearoa, where donations help keep supporting groups building a culture of repair throughout the country. Please note if your item needs parts, you may be asked to purchase or supply these and re-book for repair.

Do you have some handy skills to share?
We’d love to have you on board! Get in touch via the email address below or phone/text Rotorua Lakes Council’s Waste Minimisation Officer, Meghan on 027 206 9551.

This event is sponsored by Envirohub, Rotorua Lakes Council and the Rotorua DIY Shed.

Email recycling@rotorualc.nz if you have any questions, otherwise FB event page details will be updated soon.
