Clark / Naretha Williams / Sandwell District (Hybrid AV) / Veronica Vasicka
Event description
Brace yourself. A collection of ritualistic performances from future-forward techno, raw, danceable productions, and sleek electronics descends. This one’s for the heads.
Equal parts a label and production collective, the immeasurably influential Sandwell District reinvented techno in their own bleakly modernist image. Known for their signature brand of future-forward techno, Function and Regis bring their newly adapted AV show to the Royal Exhibition Building in an Australian exclusive.
Across a career spanning over 20 years, British artist Clark has constantly shape-shifted and evolved his sound, harnessing oppositional sounds of brute force and calm meditations. Equally likely to melt your heart and face, often at the same time.
New Yorker Veronica Vasicka, founder of the historic record label and on-line music resource, Minimal Wave, is a selector for the ages. Her sets not only ignite dance floors, but also chronicle the history of electronic music.
Award winning dark electronica artist and proud Wiradjuri woman Naretha Williams is joined by collaborator and Groundstar Music record label co-founder, Cyrus 9. Performing her latest album ‘Into Dusk We Fall’ for the first time in Narrm, this transcendent, visceral set weaves synths, sultry vocals, live percussion and atmospheric sound beds.
