When Victoria and Albert met Felix Mendelssohn
Join the aging Queen Victoria in 1900 as she reminisces about her early married life with her beloved Prince Albert, particularly the first visit by Felix Mendelssohn to Buckingham Palace in 1842. The Queen’s diary entries show a merry time of music-making and singing. Prince Albert was a talented organist and pianist who wrote many songs – including one sung at their wedding – and Queen Victoria had a pure and charming voice. We will hear the songs of Prince Albert and Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn performed in a delightful musical afternoon at the Rex Theatre.
Featuring Laura Caire as the young Queen Victoria, Ryan Jacobs as Prince Albert, Geoffrey Urquhart as Felix Mendelssohn, Ian Lowe as Private Secretary Bigge and Rachel Buckley as the ageing Queen Victoria.
