Ruby Gill and her band are taking their third record, Fishing is not about fishing, on the road across Australia this autumn, coming to a body of water near you to answer your most existential questions, make you laugh in a witty way and move you to real tears.

This “remarkable achievement in songwriting and just as remarkable a performance” (Stereogum) makes profound the realm of the normal, weaving a thread of Ruby’s origin story and continual search for meaning across 11 songs — and you won’t want to miss its extraordinary live performance by some of Australia’s top musicians.

Three albums in, Ruby has completely nailed her very own genre of roguely spiritual, strangely catchy, rough novella hits. With unparalleled specificity and deadpan wit, she doesn’t sound like any folk you know, but that makes her all the more enticing to a much-bigger-than-cult cult following.

Ruby’s tender, strange and delightfully ungovernable “lyrical wizardry” is beloved by everyone from triple j and Double J to BBC and KCRW over the pond. She’s sold-out tours in Australia, South Africa and the UK/EU, and been named by Rolling Stone, NME, CLASH, The Guardian and The Independent as some of Australia’s best music, with two Australian Music Prize nominations to her name and Best Country Album at the recent Australian Independent Record Awards.

Doors open at 5pm, music starts at 6pm sharp. Early arrivals encouraged!
