    Event description

Keeping the flame of original music gigs in Sydney burning

    _____

rue tiay's debut single, My Demons Keep Me Company, was released last month, and since then has been streamed over 60 000 times in over 150 countries. She's now back with a new single, Sleep Paralysis and will be celebrating its release with her first headline show in Sydney.

Falling on the winter solstice, and nestled in an intimate venue in Camperdown drenched fairy lights, and a grand piano on stage, will be the perfect setting to capture the moment for this soft indie gig.

‘Music is the art of painting in sounds capturing feelings, rue tiay certainly achieves this and her pencil is always sharp’ - Tristen Bird (Palomino Sound Recorders)

"The Footstomp Music were stoked to discover rue tiay and her irresistible sounds and to be part of her team moving forward" - Graham Ashton (Footstomp Music)

Whens the last time you managed a night out in Sydney for $25?  Skip the average cocktails in overcrowded bars and treat yourself to an evening of entertainment. Plus, you're welcome to bring your own drinks from home, be it alcohol or tea. Enhance your experience and support local artists.

Rue will be joined on stage by the talented Jessica Arlo Irish on viola, and opening acts by Alyssa Cavaleri and Finch.

    About the artist

rue tiay is an emerging indie pop artist living on Gadigal land. Hailing from Iraq, rue tiay’s family fled war when she was a child, and her introduction to songwriting was a cathartic release from survivor's guilt. Fast forward a decade or two her mission is to help individuals connect through grasping that loneliness and sadness are natural parts of the human condition and be that validation. She trained as a scientist, then doctor, before finally pursing music full time in 2023, and believes in healing through music. Enthusiastic about mellotrons, violins, and grand pianos, her music unlocks a cinematic world where you can escape. If you ever need to.
