Dear, Bina: First Nation Languages Old and New attendee,

We’re excited to welcome you to the first RUIL Public Lecture of 2025, hosted by the Research Unit for Indigenous Language, on Wednesday, 4th of June 2025. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with the lecture starting at 6:00 PM and event concluding at 8:00PM.

While this free event will be catered, please note that the catering will consist of finger foods and does not constitute a full dinner. We will do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, but we cannot guarantee that all needs will be met.

Getting there

The public lecture will be held in the Public Lecture Theatre, Old arts on our Parkville campus; Please see the map reference and directions here.

Parking

The closest parking is the Royal Parade car park; more information about parking on campus can be found online.

 Accessibility 

The Public Lecture Theatre (PLT) utilises a hearing aid loop. It is also wheelchair accessible: enter Old Arts via the North Entrance automatic doors and proceed towards the end of the hallway to turn right; ramp access is via the south-east theatre entrance. Accessible bathrooms are available opposite PLT.

The lecture will then have refreshments in Arts Hall.

The Arts Hall is wheelchair accessible: enter Old Arts via the North Entrance automatic doors, turn right and proceed to the West hallway, then proceed left along the West hallway; use the lift to access level two. Lift dimensions are 88cm by 140cm with a door opening of 86cm.

Accessible bathrooms are available on the ground floor of Old Arts, opposite the Public Lecture Theatre.

The University of Melbourne have the services to hire wheelchairs for visitors, if you would like to ask about accessibility for the venues or wish to organise a wheelchair for the event, please contact ruil-contact@unimelb.edu.au.
