    Event description

'The Rose' is a powerful motif in art and mythology throughout the world.

In the mystical Sufi traditions of the Middle East and Asia, it represents the essence of Divine Love, a universal force eternally available to all living beings.

Sufi masters such as Rumi reached a spiritual level where they found themselves overflowing with this love. The poems would come to them while they were in states of spiritual ecstasy. They were then transcribed and used to teach and inspire their dervishes (Sufi students and followers) to advance towards 'Intimacy with the Infinite'.

Thanks to some excellent translations, the beauty and profundity of Sufi mysticism is available to us now, and Rumi is the best-selling poet in the English language - not bad for a Persian who died 700 years ago!

This is YOUR chance to hear these magnificent poems performed live by contemporary bard and Sufi dervish Alasdair Greenbard and his Celtic harp.

In the midst of a garden of blooming roses on a sweet spring evening, you will feel the power, passion and wisdom of these extraordinary works in a rare and authentic setting.

Persian tea and treats will be provided at interval.

This is an all-weather event with a sheltered area.
