    Event description

As part of ChitAmbara’s Encounters through Art series and part of the Armadale Hills Arts Trail 2024, immerse yourself in the live creation of ancient Indian art in the serene surroundings of the Art Sanctuary Foundation. This one-of-a-kind event brings together four exceptional artists, each offering a rare, real-time demonstration of their craft.

Live stone sculpture, music, painting and dance
Witness master stone carvers Padmashree Sri Pravakar Maharana and Kalamani Sri Ratnakar Maharana as they continue the 12th-century Konark stone sculpting tradition. Pravakar, a Padma Shri awardee with over 50 years of experience, and Ratnakar, known for his exquisite miniatures, will offer a profound look into this ancient art form.

Subhashini Balasubramanian will enrich the event with a live music performance, blending her deep-rooted musical heritage with a creative exploration of sound and form. Her melodic interpretations create a bridge between tradition and contemporary art.

In a breathtaking fusion of movement and colour, Sarasa Krishnan will paint live on stage while performing, offering a rare glimpse into her unique process of blending dance and painting. Her performance weaves rhythm, brushstrokes, and metaphysical themes into a dynamic artistic experience.

Odissi dancers from Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya (SMV) will perform the Mangala Charan, a spiritual invocation combining graceful movements, intricate footwork, and expressive hand gestures. This traditional offering seeks blessings from the divine, the guru, and the audience, setting a reverent and sacred tone for the event.
