About the documentary:

Directed by Award-Winning Filmmaker Liz Courtney and Edited by Karin Steiniger, the documentary follows a team of female climate scientists on a mission to Antarctica, led by Prof Benjamin Horton, Director of The Earth Observatory.

The documentary follows a team of young female climate scientists as they embark on a mission to Antarctica, led by Prof Benjamin Horton, one of the world’s leading experts in sea-level rise and director of The Earth Observatory. Accompanied by renowned Director of Photography Michael Dillon AM, the team endeavours to conduct innovative scientific research, providing critical insights into the pace of Antarctica's transformation and its implications for the region.

Antarctica, nearly twice the size of Australia, holds 75% of the world's fresh water. However, the Antarctic ice sheet, perched on a bedrock base, is now under threat as colossal ice cliffs surrounding the West Antarctic coastline collapse due to rising temperatures in the Southern Ocean, surpassing previous predictive models.

Prof Horton Emphasises the Urgency of Understanding Ice Melt and Sharing Scientific Discoveries.

Rural and Regional Climate Hub - Castlemaine

Supporting Rural Women. Strengthening Communities. Creating Local Solutions.

What could happen if women in all diversity across our region came together to shape practical, community-led solutions for the future?

Join us in Castlemaine for an inspiring day of conversation, connection and action as we explore the launch of the second regional Women’s Climate Hub in the Loddon Mallee region, a space designed to empower rural and regional women in all diversity to lead innovative projects that strengthen communities, build resilience and create sustainable local solutions.

Supported by the Women's Climate Congress (WCC), this initiative is part of a growing national movement amplifying the voices, ideas and leadership of women in all diversity across rural and regional Australia.

About the R&RCH Coordinators

Women's Climate Congress (local coordinators Heidi Michael and Margaret de Kam) in partnership with Women’s Health Loddon Mallee, are inviting women in all diversity from the Loddon Mallee region including Castlemaine, Maryborough, Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill areas, to join for a welcoming conversation to explore what matters most to to women in Castlemaine and how we can work together to create meaningful local impact around climate solutions.

About the Rural and Regional Climate Hubs (R&RCH)
In 2025, listening circles with rural women in all diversity in the Castlemaine, highlighted growing concerns about climate impacts, social isolation, pressures on disaster recovery, and a lack of locally tailored support. In response, WCC is launching Rural & Regional Climate Hubs in 2026, five pilot programs to strengthen resilience, leadership, and community connection across regional Australia, with a goal to expand support across 2027-2030.

About the Women’s Climate Congress

Women’s Climate Congress is a national, nonpartisan movement helping women in all diversity lead practical climate resilience and community action across Australia. Over the past six years, WCC has grown into a national network of more than 1,000 members, supported by volunteers, facilitators and regional partners working across generations, sectors and communities.

Our work uses circle-based dialogue to create trusted local spaces where women in all diversity can connect, share lived experience, strengthen leadership skills and develop practical responses to climate, well-being and community challenges. We support First Nations knowledge, value inter-generational learning, and support women to turn concern into local action and hope.

Together, we can build stronger communities, support rural and regional women in all diversity’s leadership, and create solutions that leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
