RAR Indi 2025 Regional Forum
Event description
Rural Australians for Refugees Indi regional 3 year strategic planning forum will be held on Saturday 31 May 2025 from 9.30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Uniting Church Hall, Rowan Street in Wangaratta. The purpose is to find out about the current situation for refugees in Australia and to plan responses that RAR can provide in North East Victoria.
Gillian Triggs (previous Australian Human Rights Commissioner) will be the Keynote Speaker. Other speakers with lived refugee experience are being confirmed to also present their experiences during the forum.
Six discussion groups will address the following issues and plan for follow-up action in the region:
- Human Rights and Refugees
- Political awareness and refugee support advocacy and action strategies
- Local resources identification and development for supporting refugee settlement
- Collation and awareness raising of various refugee entry pathways
- Priorities for RAR Indi for next 3 years
- Engaging local businesses and key support services
Participants need to nominate a workshop they are most interested to attend. As numbers for each group will be limited to 12, participants may nominate a second preference.
Morning and afternoon tea and lunch will be provided at a cost of $25 per head. Registrations for the forum will be required by Friday 23 May (for catering purposes).
