Description

Why join Social Lab 2?

Local partnerships between schools, industry, and community groups are known to strengthen STEM education in rural areas. Social Lab 2 further develops local networks and critiques AI use to work towards piloting localised approaches to rural STEM education.

Rather than starting from deficit narratives, these Social Labs focus on identifying, amplifying, and connecting local knowledge, resources, and expertise already present in our communities.

 What will participants do?

Participants will take part in Social Lab 2 that:

  • Co‑develop practical recommendations for strengthening partnerships and networks

  • Engage in critiquing the localised learning outputs of AI tools

  • Translate ideas into actionable, sustainable practice for rural STEM education

Who should participate?

You are invited if you are:

  • A rural STEM teacher or educator, or

  • A local STEM expert from industry or a community organisation whose knowledge and networks could support STEM education

Please feel free to pass this invitation on to people you know who may be interested in participating.

Benefits of taking part

By participating, you will have opportunities to:

  • Network with local educators, industry, and community STEM practitioners

  • Contribute to co‑designed resources for rural STEM education

Support the development of a model for rural STEM partnerships that can benefit other communities
