Ruthie Foster with full band | Avoca Beach Theatre

GRAMMY® Award–winning vocalist and guitarist Ruthie Foster returns to Australia in 2026, bringing the magnetic presence that has made her one of the most revered voices in contemporary roots music. Often compared to the great Aretha Franklin for her emotional power and vocal command, Foster blends blues, gospel, folk and soul with a depth and clarity that stop audiences in their tracks. Her masterful guitar playing is equally celebrated - fiery, melodic, and deeply expressive - elevating her songs with the same sincerity that defines her voice.

Her most recent Australian visit came just weeks after she earned her first GRAMMY® Award for Mileage (2024), produced by Tyler Bryant for Sun Records. Acclaimed for its honesty, craftsmanship, and emotional weight, the album reaffirmed her status as a singular figure in modern American music. Australian audiences have embraced her for years, drawn to the authenticity and generosity she brings to every stage.

Foster’s musical journey is as expansive as her sound. Raised in a gospel-rich family in Gause, Texas, she found her voice in church before studying music, serving in the U.S. Navy, and honing her songwriting in New York City. Her acclaimed catalogue - including Runaway Soul, The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster, The Truth According to Ruthie Foster, and Healing Time - showcases her versatility. Along the way, she has collaborated with Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and other luminaries.

In 2026, Ruthie Foster returns at the height of her powers, offering unforgettable evenings of soul, storytelling, and musicianship from an artist whose voice and guitar speak straight to the heart.
