Join us for an exclusive training designed to equip allied health professionals with the skills and knowledge to facilitate Strength2Strength (S2S) programs in their communities. 

This program provides a structured, evidence-based approach to supporting families and carers of individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) to build resilience and navigate the challenges of long-term care.

The 2026 training will be delivered online over two half-day sessions:

Session 1: Wed 18th Feb 2026, 9:15 am - 1:00 pm AEDT

Session 2: Wed 18th Feb 2026, 9:15 am - 1:00 pm AEDT

What is Strength2Strength (S2S)?

S2S is a psychoeducational program that empowers families and carers by:

  • Providing a safe space to share lived experiences and strategies

  • Exploring how others have coped with the challenges of traumatic injury

  • Strengthening collaborative relationships between families, carers, and health professionals

  • Teaching practical strategies for restoring balance and emotional wellbeing

  • Offering information on social and economic resources available for support

Who should attend?

This training is designed for rehabilitation clinicians, social workers, psychosexual therapists, case managers, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists who want to integrate resilience-building strategies into their practice and become S2S facilitators.

Facilitators

  • Dr Grahame Simpson, an expert in brain injury rehabilitation and the lead researcher behind the Strength2Strength program. As the Group Leader of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Group at the Ingham Institute, Dr Simpson has led significant research in this field and played a key role in expanding the S2S program across Australia.

  • Candice Care-Unger, an award-winning clinician-researcher, specialist social worker and clinical sexologist. She served as the project officer for the S2S sustainability project and has been delivering train-the-trainer workshops since 2009.
