It is free. You can choose to kick in a few dollars.

Why would I pay for a free event?

No stress if you don't want to (seriously). It helps to cover things like:

The website and other shared infrastructure for organisers.
A fund for paying artists to make cool art for stickers, shirts, etc.
A fund so we can provide free/subsidised tickets to events for those who need it.
Occasional merch orders (stickers, etc.) which are distributed via organisers at no charge.
