Sacred Seeds: A Sensory and Creative Exploration of Place

Join us as we explore the grounds of ‘The Botanical Cemetery’. This unique setting evokes themes of natural cycles, generational stories, and rejuvenation. Alongside the endemic plants and narratives, they hold, the variety of seeds planted in the earth of this sacred resting place tell stories of multicultural settlement in the McLaren Vale region.

This workshop is designed to allow us space to connect with our own stories, our connection to place, the seeds that we sow, and the ways they grow. It will begin with your facilitator Jess guiding you through a sensory-based mindfulness process to connect you to the space, followed by a wander through the garden where you will be encouraged to explore the shapes, scents, colours, textures and stories of the setting.

Simple art materials will be available for you to reflect on your time spent in the Botanical Cemetery. You might engage in mark making, drawing, writing, movement, song, or any other creative process that you feel drawn to. You may not create anything at all; just the act of noticing is more than enough. Jess will be present throughout the workshop to assist you in your individual exploration.
No previous creative arts experience is required, just an openness to new experiences.

What to bring along:

Hat, water, snacks or anything else required to feel comfortable.

Raincoat/ umbrella (the workshop will go ahead in light rain).

You are welcome to bring along your own art materials if you desire.
